Fairbairn and Sykes worked together on the famous SMP RU (Riot aka Reserve Unit) throughout the 1920‘s and 30‘s. This unit was the true forerunner of today’s modern SWAT / Police Tactical Units.
Fairbairn was responsible for many innovations within the SMP, not least of all the RU itself. He was also an accomplished Martial Arts practitioner (Judo/Jiu Jitsu, Chinese Boxing, Mongolian Wrestling and more). Co - Creator of the Point Shooting methods used by the SMP, Fairbairn was a man ahead of his time, a thoroughly professional Police Officer, excellent Martial Artist and devoted husband & father.
